If someone ever told you that you had to learn to code to build beautiful products or bring your ideas to life... well, that someone was probably me.
And I was wrong.
Here's the thing… After spending 20+ years building products, leading engineering teams, and founding startups like GudPrompt and SkipRound, I'm rethinking that advice big time. Why? Two words: vibe coding.
Trust me... this one hits different.
The Day I Realized "Learn to Code" Wasn't the Answer
A couple years ago, a friend asked me straight-up: “Pranay, what's the one skill I need to get ahead?” Without hesitation, I said, “Learn to code.”
Back then, it felt like the obvious answer. Coding was my superpower, the key to independence, problem-solving, and turning ideas into reality. But fast forward to today...
AI showed up and flipped the table.
With tools like Cursor or ChatGPT, suddenly you can describe your dream app in plain English and watch the code magically appear. No syntax nightmares, no endless debugging sessions, just results. It made me pause and ask myself: "Why did I even love coding in the first place?"
Turns out, it boiled down to:
Solving tricky problems (that sweet "aha!" moment)
Avoiding unnecessary meetings (introvert bliss)
Constant learning (tech never gets stale)
And most importantly: creating something from nothing
Vibe coding delivers all that, but faster, simpler, and more intuitively.
Who Am I to Preach Vibe Coding?
Quick intro if we haven't met yet: I'm Pranay Joshi. I've spent over two decades building and launching successful products as VP of Product & Engineering at Deveron, Engineering Manager at Joist, and founder of startups that actually made it off the ground.
My sweet spot? Combining tech, product strategy, and user experience. With an MBA from Schulich and a B.Tech in Computer Science, I've seen it all, from gnarly tech migrations (goodbye monolith, hello microservices) to coaching executives on AI.
But here's the kicker: despite my coding background, my obsession was never with the code itself. It was always with the impact. Vibe coding lets me stay laser-focused on that impact, turning ideas into reality faster than ever.
