What apps can you build with Vibe Coding?
And what I've seen people build so far that has blown my mind 🤯
Hey vibe coders! I’ve dug through over 3400 apps built with a vibe coding tool called Lovable… took me a while!!!
But let me tell you, it was worth it. The possibilities are endless, and people have such great imagination! That is all you need now, isn’t it... imagination!
As an AI coach with 20+ years in engineering and product building, I get asked one question all the time: What can you build with vibe coding?
Let’s break it down in a way that actually makes sense.
Why Do Vibe Coders Keep Asking This?
Here’s the thing… vibe coding (where you describe your app idea and let AI whip up the code) is blowing up. People are jumping in, building stuff fast, and loving the speed.
But not gonna lie, there’s a lot of noise too. Some folks are calling it a fool’s errand, saying AI-built apps can’t hold a candle to traditional coding.
And honestly? For some apps, I’d agree. But for others… oh man, vibe coding can get you there quicker than you’d think.
Before we dive in, let’s clear something up. I’m not saying vibe coding is the end-all, be-all. If you’re building a production-grade app, you need a software engineer to check the code, catch issues early, and avoid headaches (like security gaps that could bite both you and your users).
But for getting started or playing around? Trust me… vibe coding is a gold mine of opportunity. So let’s talk about what you should build with it.
What Apps Are Perfect for Vibe Coding?
After analyzing thousands of apps and seeing what vibe coders are chatting about online, I’ve got two categories that vibe coding absolutely nails. These are the sweet spots where AI shines… and where you can get a head start without breaking a sweat.
Internal Apps for Small Teams
First up, internal apps for small teams… especially ones that aren’t public-facing. Think about a simple task tracker for your five-person marketing crew, or a dashboard to keep tabs on your team’s weekly goals. These are perfect for vibe coding because they don’t need to handle millions of users or crazy security risks right away. They’re quick, low-stakes projects where speed beats perfection.
I’ve seen this echoed across the web. Folks on X are raving about using AI for “internal MVPs” (minimum viable products) to test ideas fast. A recent TechCrunch piece also mentioned companies building internal tools (like employee scheduling apps) with AI because they don’t need to be polished for the masses. They just need to work.
And bam 💥… vibe coding delivers.
Fun, Experimental Apps for Friends and Family
The other category I love? Fun, experimental apps… like games, joke generators, or little tools for your inner circle. I’ve seen vibe coders make stuff like a quirky quiz game for family game night or a meme generator to share with friends. These are all about playing around and having fun, not chasing perfection. They’re a great way to test the waters, flex your creativity, and maybe even impress your buddies.
The vibe coding community agrees. A Reddit thread in r/nocode was buzzing about casual games like “Guess the Baller” (a soccer quiz app) because they’re quick to build and don’t need constant upkeep. A Medium blog on AI app development also pointed out that hobby projects (like a recipe app for your family) are perfect for vibe coding since they’re more about the fun than enterprise-level reliability.
What Tech Powers These Vibe Coding Tools?
Now that we know what to build, let’s talk about how these apps come together. Vibe coding tools (think Lovable, Bolt.new, or Replit Agent) are packed with tech that makes building apps feel like magic… even if you’re not a coding pro.
Most of these tools have front-end design down to a science. They create clean, user-friendly interfaces without you touching a single line of CSS. They also handle the backend for you… setting up servers and databases so your app can store data and run smoothly. Some even let you connect to payment providers like Stripe, which is awesome if you’re testing a small SaaS idea for your team or friends.
Here’s what I love most… these tools are smart. You describe a feature in plain English… like “I want a login page”, and they figure out the perfect open-source libraries to make it happen.
Oh, and most vibe coding builders automatically add authentication and authorization features, so your app has basic security from the get-go. It’s a game-changer for getting something up and running fast.
This lines up with what vibe coders need (as we’ve talked about before). These tools let you focus on your idea, not the techy details, which is why they’re so popular with casual hackers, non-coders, and product folks who just want to see their vision come to life.
What Does the Data Tell Us About Vibe-Coded Apps?
Let’s dig into some numbers. I’ve analyzed over 3400 vibe-coded apps, and I’ve got a couple of charts that show what’s trending… and what it means for building with vibe coding.
Check out this first chart. Productivity and work management apps are leading with 310 apps, followed by entertainment and media at 281, and developer tools at 251. This tracks with what I mentioned earlier… productivity tools like task trackers or dashboards are perfect for small teams. They’re the kind of internal apps that vibe coding handles beautifully.
Entertainment and media apps (281 of them) include fun stuff like games and meme generators… exactly the experimental projects I talked about. Apps like “Bunny Empire” (a cute idle game) or “Ai DnD” (an AI-powered Dungeons & Dragons tool) show how vibe coders are getting creative with games and media for small audiences.
What’s cool is the long tail of categories. There are 81 apps in “Search & Lookup Utilities” like “WhereWatch.Stream,” which helps you find where to stream movies. These are often small, focused tools that a few people might use, fitting right into that “fun and experimental” vibe.
This second chart shows the apps that people ranked highest on Lovable. Now, given that these were ranked by other Vibe coders, it makes sense that categories like developer tools, productivity and AI-powered assistants stand out.
Apps like “CopyWeb UI” (turns designs into code in one click) or “Ai DnD” scored high because their target market is vibe coders.
But as you can see, education and entertainment is right up there as well. These are apps that one could dream of, and build in a day for themselves, their friends, or kids!
The data backs up my take… vibe coding thrives where speed and creativity matter more than scale. Whether it’s a productivity tool for your team or a game to share with friends, these categories show what’s possible.
Notable Vibe-Coded Apps That Blew Me Away
I didn’t want to leave you all with just some analysis mumbo-jumbo!
I went ahead and looked at some of these apps built with vibe coding that I thought were “Coooool”. Here are a few standouts that show just how creative you can get.
I also charted it out to show you how the rankings on categories kinda changed when I started rating them on - if an idea sounded cool to me or not. This is full of biases, so, take it for what it’s worth.
But honestly, if your vibe coded app uses voice, or audio in some way… the cool factor skyrockets! Just sayin’!

Let’s Wrap This Up… Vibe Coding’s Sweet Spot
So, what can you build with vibe coding? From my experience and this analysis, it’s clear… vibe coding is perfect for internal apps for small teams and fun, experimental projects for friends and family.
The tech behind tools like Lovable makes it easy to create something functional with great front-end design, solid backend support, and even payment integration… all while using open-source libraries and built-in security features.
If you’re a vibe coder just starting out, focus on these low-stakes, high-impact projects. They’ll let you explore vibe coding’s potential without the pressure of building something production-ready. And when you’re ready to scale, bring in a software engineer to polish it up.
Inspired by your posts and constant encouragement I built my first vibecoded tool using lovable! Its incredible! It suddenly made me feel like HULK - all pumped and energetic about the sheer massiveness of this idea that I, a novice at coding was able to get lovable to generate thousands of lines of code 😄and churn out a decent prototype of my idea!
